Editorial policy

Where facts come from

Project details come from the project's own website, documentation, repositories and official announcements. These are the sources we cite.

We monitor industry publications and DePIN directories to learn that a story exists. We do not use their articles as source material, and we do not reproduce or paraphrase their writing. When their coverage points us at something, we go to the primary source and research it ourselves.

What the confidence labels mean

• Verified: stated on an official primary source, checked on the date shown.
• Reported: stated by a credible source but not confirmed by the project itself.
• Estimated: derived by us from something published. Never a guarantee, and always accompanied by a note explaining the derivation.
• Unverified: recorded but not yet checked.
• Not available: we looked and could not establish it. This is a common and honest answer.

Verification dates

Every project page shows when it was last verified. Where that date is more than three months old, the page warns you that the figures should be treated as indicative until re-checked. We would rather flag a stale entry than let it read as current.

How AI is used

AI assists our research and drafting. It fetches and reads primary sources, extracts facts, proposes an outline and produces a first draft, which is then edited and put through an automated quality gate before any human sees it.

The gate checks sourcing depth, contradictions between sources, length, formulaic phrasing, similarity to existing articles, and whether the piece says anything a reader could not get from a press release. Pieces that fail are held back rather than published.

Each article records how it was produced and shows that on the page. We do not claim human reporting, hands-on hardware testing or firsthand experience that did not happen.

What we will not do

• Present estimates as guaranteed earnings.
• Invent figures for rewards, costs, funding, user counts or partnerships.
• Republish or paraphrase another publication's article.
• Publish content whose only purpose is to rank in search.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected and logged on the article, showing what changed and when. Minor fixes such as typos are made silently. If you believe something is wrong, tell us and we will check it against the source.
